It was not until Ole Hanson, a former mayor of Seattle, bought property in this area that it was named San Clemente, after the nearby San Clemente Island. He felt this area was the ideal spot for people who dreamed of living life at a slower pace.

San Clemente was incorporated on February 27, 1928, and today still retains that small town atmosphere. Residents form a close-knit community that is conducive to raising children. San Clemente is a strong beach town community that demonstrates great local pride. Furthermore, it has an ideal climate that is so appealing to Californians who thrive on their ability to play outdoors under the warm rays of the sun.
